The Ascender Personality Kit lets you change the "personality" of your Windows Mobile phone in just a few simple steps. Each personality contains a matching ringtone, theme and background image.
The Starter Edition includes 10 personalities, with a wide variety of additional personalities available for download.
SUPPORTED DEVICES
There are three common Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0 phones:
- Pocket PC Phone
- Smartphone with landscape display
- Smartphone with portrait display
The software supports all Windows Mobile phones with a QVGA 320x240 or 240x320 resolution display.
NOTES:
- Phones with a 320x320 or 240x240 display are not supported.
- PDAs without phone support are not supported

HOW TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE
The Personality Kit and Add-On Personality Pack download files are in the .CAB format for easy installation onto your Windows Mobile phone. There are two methods to download and install the .CAB file onto your phone:
- Download it directly from the website to your phone
- Download it to your PC and then transfer it to your phone
1. Download directly to your phone:
Follow these instructions if you are using your phone to purchase and download the .CAB file from the www.personalitykit.com website (no PC involved):
- On the phone, select Start, then select File Explorer
- You should see the Personality Kit file – select it and the installation process will begin
Once the software is installed it can be launched from the Start menu (you made need to scroll to the second or third page of the Start menu).
2. Download to your PC and then install it on your phone:
Follow these instructions if you are using your PC to purchase and download the .CAB file from the www.personalitykit.com website:
- Using your PC, download the .CAB file from the www.personalitykit.com website and save it to your desktop.
- Connect your phone to the PC and open ActiveSync (if using Windows XP) or the Windows Mobile Device Center (if using Windows Vista).
- Select “Explore”
- Copy the .CAB file from your desktop on your phone (drag and drop from the desktop to the open window).
- On the phone, select Start, then select File Explorer
- You should see the Personality Kit file – select it and the installation process will begin.
Once the software is installed it can be launched from the Start menu (you made need to scroll to the second or third page of the Start menu).

HOW TO USE THE SOFTWARE
Step 1 - Select a category
The opening screen shows a list of different categories. Scroll through the list and select a desired category.
Step 2 - Select a personality
This next screen shows a list of the different personalities in the category. Selecting a personality will advance to the next screen with more information.
Step 3 - Personality info
This screen provides details on the selected personality. The "Menu" option on this screen has three options:
- Play ringtone
- Apply
- Show preview
These options allow you to see and hear the personality before applying it.
Rollback to previous or original settings
If you want to restore your device to the original personality, simply select "Rollback" from the Menu option in the first two steps.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Q – Can I switch out a different ringtone, background image or theme from the matched personality set?
A – The Personality Kit software does not have the ability to mix & match components from different personalities. But if you want to change any individual component, such as the ringtone or background, after it is applied you can do this manually by changing the settings with Windows Mobile.
Q – How do I reset my phone to the original settings?
A – Start the Personality Kit software, then select “Rollback” from the menu option.
Q – How do I change the volume of a ringtone on my device?
On a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone:
- On the Home Screen scroll down and select Profile
- Select “Menu” then “Edit”
- Change the “Ring Volume” to the desired setting
On a Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC Phone:
- On the top menu bar click on the speaker icon (Volume)
- Adjust the slider bar to a desired volume setting
Q – How do I reset my phone back to its original factory settings, and clear out any programs that were installed:
On a Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone:
- Select “Start”, then “More” until you see the “Accessories” folder
- Open the “Accessories” folder and select “Clear Storage”
- WARNING: this will remove any programs or changes you made to your device and set it back to its original settings
On a Windows Mobile 5.0 PocketPC Phone:
- Select the Windows icon (Start), then select “Settings”
- Select the “System” tab, then select “Clear Storage”
- WARNING: this will remove any programs or changes you made to your device and set it back to its original settings
